Cashew is made up of 32.5% nut and 67.5% shell. While the nut is edible, the shell is discarded by the cashew processing business. The shell is further processed to obtain cashew nut shell liquid, and the waste is occasionally utilized as fuel in brick kilns. This byproduct is known as cashew de-oiled cake or cashew DOC .
